Acorn flour

Hey,
It's been a week since I've wrote a blog post. Sorry, I guess it's just the start of school. So continuing on the acorn recipes, here's a new recipe for you. It's easy, and I'll take you through every step!

Ingredients
Acorns
water

Things you'll need-
coffee grinder
pot for boiling

Now, the first 2 things are a little tricky. First, you have to find your acorns. Acorns are very different, depending on the kind. Some acorns take so long to prepare. In the Northeast, we use geen acorns for our dishes, but in states like California you might have to use light browns. Experiment and research. When you find your acorns, make sure they don't have any hue bites or worms, because it's gross. Crack them open with stomping on it, using a hammer, a sharp knife, or a rock.

Once you've got a good amount of acorns, it's time to get all the tannic acid out of it. Put your acorns in water. Boil the water on the stove. Keep boiling until the water is clear instead of brown or dark red. There are many ways to do this, but this I find is easier and takes the least amount of time.

Next, I grabbed newspaper and laid the acorns in the sun for 2 hours. Make sure to find a sunny spot.

After that put it in the oven for 15 minutes on 170 degrees until toasty.

Were almost finish! Grab a handful of your acorns and put them into the grinder until in little bits and DO NOT WAIT UNTIL FLOURY!!!

Put them in the oven for 5 more minutes  on a low heat. Once done, grind them in your coffee grinder until it is a flour.

That's it!
I'll be back with my acorn cake experiment soon.

Acorn Paste recipe

Hi guys,
In my last post, which is how to make acorn pancakes, it said I would teach you how to make acorn paste, which is a recipe I made up. So here it is! It had a earthy taste, and tasted a lot like peanut butter. Here it is!!!!!!!

you will need -
masher
blender
tablespoon
sugar
a cup of tannic acid free acorns
3 rasberries
bread

Procedure
Get your cup of acorns. If you want to know how to get the Tannic acid out of them, go to my recipe on how to make acorn pancakes, and it will tell you what to do. It will tell you also about collecting the acorns and more about the acorns I used. Mash the acorn with a masher until it gets to be a paste. If it just isn't working, I strongly think it will be wise to put in a blender. Put a Tablespoon of water with it too. Blend it until it's a thick paste once that is done, put it in a bowl. Put a tablespoon of sugar and mix it with a spoon. put the mixture on a piece of bread. Sprinkle a pinch of sugar on the piece of bread. Lay your rasberries on the piece of bread.
Enjoy!
Thank you guys! Good luck!

Acorn pancakes

Hi Guys,
It's the last day of summer and I decided to put this up because I'm sure your wondering about any recipe's you can do which is natural. I've decided to do this recipe because the way I make it is probably the easiest way to do it, so lets get cooking!
The first thing you'll need is 3/4 - 1 cup of acorn meal. You'll most likely have to go outside and get your acorns because there are not any at the super market. Get ONLY GREEN ACORNS. Most brown ones have wholes in them and have worms. Then open the shell. I live in the Northeast, and my acorns shells are soft and easy to open. All I have to do is stomp on it, and it comes right of. If you live in California, I've heard that most people have to use hammers. Experiment, and I hope the best of luck!

Once you've got your acorns you have to get all the tannic acid. If you don't, you can get stomach aces and I think diarrhea. The way to do this is to boil the acorns in water on the stove. The water will be dark red. Keep boiling until the water is clear. With my acorns it only takes about 5-7 times, but it can be very different, depending on where you live. Right now you have a choice. You can make acorn flour or grind it into tiny chunks, which is what I do because I like my pancakes a little chewy. But if you want to make flour, go online and see. I'm sure there many recipe's. Anyway, heres my way on how to make the small chunks.

Once that is done, dry the acorns in the sun or throughly in a dish towel. Then mash the acorns until they are mushy. Next put them in a coffee grinder. Grind until the acorns are in very small chunks.

That's it. Now lets make the pancakes! You can put them in a pancake mix, and mix them in with your pancakes or if you don't have any you can make actual pancakes. Here's the recipe I use when I have no mix. I got this from ''evergreenknits.blogspot.com'' and didn't use all the ingredients, so please look at the blog. Anyway here's what I did with the recipe . . .

2 1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup of acorn meal
3 1/2 tps of baking powder
2 tsp of salt
3 tblp of sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tblp of melted butter
1 1/4 cup of milk
3/4 tps of vanilla

Mix the ingredients and cook them on a griddle until they're brown on both sides

I hope this is useful, and you try it. Right now I'm making acorn cake. I hope it works out so I can share the recipe with you. I have one more recipe with acorns called acorn paste, which is one I made up entirely. I'll post that soon. Be sure to check out faiths blog, because shell be posting a recipe with acorns to.

Bye, and I hope you have some luck with this recipe!!!!!
